How to Plan a Trip to West Africa: Try Our 26-Day-Long “Unexplored West Africa” Tour

With the pandemic under control and travel becoming safer again worldwide, we know how many people are eager to hop on a plane and begin traveling again! When considering where to take your next vacation, have you thought about West Africa? The western part of this vast continent offers many beautiful sites worth visiting. The cultural destination specialists here at Palace Travel offer tours across Africa that are exhilarating and culturally enriching.

Our most comprehensive and extensive of these tours is called Unexplored West Africa, a 26-day tour that takes you across multiple carefully-selected countries. We want to outline that tour for you today, so you can consider West Africa for your next travel endeavor!

What West African Countries Will We Explore?

Our tour will take you across seven different nations along the coast of West Africa. These include Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Ghana. If you are interested in a shorter trip to get your feet wet exploring West Africa, you could also consider our much shorter three-day Ghana Starter Pack tour.

What is a Typical Day like on this Tour?

This nearly month-long tour is packed with busy days of excitement and exploration! Let’s look at day 10 as an example. After enjoying a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel Kadiandoumagne in Ziguinchor, Senegal, we will cross the border into neighboring Guinea-Bissau for a tour of the city of Bissau. We will visit the National Museum and the Military Museum and learn about the rich history of Guinea Bissau. Next, we will visit the Mercado (Central Market) where you can find fold art and handcrafted items in a vibrant atmosphere.

Next, we head to the ‘Centro Artistico Juvenile’, where young people exhibit their artwork and wares. From here we head to the old colonial center of Bissau Velho, Porto Pidjiguiti, the Presidential Palace, and Fortaleza d’Amura barracks. Lastly, we visit the National Arts museum before returning to the hotel where dinner is provided. Then you can relax, sleep soundly, and enjoy the included breakfast in the morning before starting day 11!
