Discover Nigeria – 7 Day

Day 1: Arrive in Lagos, Nigeria 

On arrival in Lagos, Murtala Mohammed International Airport you are met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, your guide who will be with you throughout your stay in Nigeria, will brief you and the exciting activities that await you here. 

Overnight at Lagos Continental Hotel 

Day 2: Lagos- Badagry – Lagos

After breakfast, depart on a day visit to Badagry along the coastal road west of Lagos at the Benin Republic border. Badagry was founded in the early 15th century on a lagoon off the Gulf of Guinea, its protected harbor led to the town becoming a key port in the export of slaves to the Americas, mainly Brazil. On arrival you will embark on a historic tour including – old slave market, Slave trade museum and relics, Seriki Abbas compound (slave baracoons), Gberefu beach (Slave embarkation point).  

Return to Lagos and proceed to Lagos Continental Hotel.

Day 3: Lagos – Abeokuta – Ibadan

After breakfast drive from Lagos to Ibadan. On the way, visit Abeokuta which is the largest city and capital of Ogun State. The original settlers of Abeokuta were of the Egba nation. Later,  members of other Yoruba clans came to settle here. You will see historic sites including  Olumo Rock and Itoku Market, where vendors sell the famous Adire fabric. Adire textile is the indigo dyed cloth made in southwestern Nigeria by Yoruba women, using a variety of resist dye techniques. You will also visit the fetish stalls at the market where items of traditional medicine are sold. Lunch is at the Obasanjo Library Complex.  

After lunch, depart for Ibadan and check in to Golden Tulip Hotel.

Day 4:Ibadan – Oyo – Ile Ife – Oshogbo

After breakfast depart Ibadan for Oshogbo. On the way, you will visit Ile Ife known as the cradle of Yoruba civilisation. According to Yoruba people, Ife is where the founding deities Oduduwa and Obatala began their existence, as directed by the paramount deity Olodumare. You will visit Palace of the Ooni of Ife – the spiritual head and highest-ranking King of Yorubaland. Then, on to Ile-Ife Museum, statue of Queen Moremi Ajasoro, a prominent female warrior that saved Ife from her enemies. Stop by the historic Oranmiyan monolith, a sacred garden where you can join “elders of the land” for a drink and ablution to the forebears and recount lore surrounding the great Oranmiyan warrior-king. Continue to Oshogbo the main city of Osun State located in the farming region where yams, cassava, grain, cotton, and tobacco are grown. On arrival, embark on a tour of this significant town popularly known as the venue for the annual festival along the River Osun. The festival is centred around the sacred grove of the river goddess Osun, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The dense forest of the Osun Sacred Grove is one of the last remnants of primary high forest in southern Nigeria. Regarded as the abode of the goddess of fertility Osun, one of the pantheons of Yoruba gods, the landscape of the grove and its meandering river is dotted with sanctuaries and shrines, sculptures, and art works in honour of Osun and other deities. The sacred grove is seen as a symbol of identity for all Yoruba people. It testifies to the once widespread practice of establishing sacred groves outside all settlements.

Day 5:Oshogbo – Ilorin – Isie – Oshogbo

Following a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for Ilorin. Sightseeing at the Emir’s Palace in Ilorin You will experience Ilorin Kwara State vibrant capital, where you can dive into the rich heritage of both the northern and western Nigeria people. Explore Dada Pottery Centre, and shop for local crafts. Here you will observe the local craft of pot making and Oke Weaving. then proceeds to Esie Museum to view the mysterious soapstone statues at the Esie museum.

After a visit to the Museum, we will return to Oshogbo for overnight at Ideal Nest Hotel

Day 6:Oshogbo – Lagos / Lagos City Tour

After breakfast, we’ll return to Lagos. This time we’ll travel to Lagos Island, Victoria Island and Lekki. Drive through the popular (3rd) Third Mainland Bridge, which spans 11.8km long across the lagoon. Previously the longest in Africa, until it was over taken by the 6th October bridge in Cairo Egypt which is 20.5km long. On arrival at Victoria Island, embark on a city tour starting from NCF Lekki Conservation Centre a place where nature meets nurture, a place every visitor wants to spend time.  

Proceed to Lekki International Craft Market where there is an abundance of  handmade arts.  

Proceed to the National Museum – Lagos. The Museum located in Onikan, Lagos Island, is one of the 53 museum outlets of the National Commission for Museums and Monuments, Nigeria and once served as the commission’s headquarters. 

Proceed to visit the Kalakuta Republic museum —highlighting the life of legendary Afro beat musician Fela Kuti. Opened in 2012, the property served as Kuti’s residence from the 1970s until his passing in 1997.  Fela is buried in a mausoleum on the grounds. See his preserved bedroom as well as other artifacts and exhibits pertaining to his life throughout the space.

Day 7: Depart

Following a sumptuous breakfast, you’ll embark on last-minute shopping and sightseeing. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
